"Green" Anaconda breeding question

tim5580 Jul 31, 2004 09:08 PM

I have a question about anaconda breeding. What would happen if I bought that $6K Anerythistic female Green Anaconda and bred with that $6K Axanthic Green Anaconda (if it is male, couldn't remember from ad)? What kind of baby anacondas would I get?

Tim
PS - I don't have an extra $12K to buy them, and even if I did, I probably would not get them. I was just wondering what would happen.

` Don't wear any clothes with zippers. They're hard on the snake's colon.
` Enjoy.

who knows...its never been done. I know you would have some snakes that may be visual of something. Did you have the green x yellow pair tim?

No I dont have the green x yellow pair. I was just wondering what kind of baby anacondas it would make like one that have only black markings or something. All that genetic stuff is confusing to me.

Tim,
If the two traits are genetically true and inheritable in both of these snakes, then the offspring will look like normal greens but be double het. for the two traits. You will not see either trait expressed in the young until these first generation double hets are either bred back to each other or to another individual carrying the genes for the same trait.

I got a pair of the yellow/greens a while back. I know alot of people dont like the hybrid but they really are a beautiful snake, they are nasty as hell but still beautiful. I also have a 7ft male green, a 13ft female green and a 12ft female green. All my anacondas dont like to be handled but the hybrids are quicker then anything I have.. 6k is a little to rich for my blood but still a cool looking snake
