Mentally stimulating a BTS??

riiotgrrl Jul 31, 2004 09:26 PM

Does anyone else find the need to 'stimulate' their bts's mind? Griffon tends to get restless unless i re arrange his tank or give him something new from time to time. He seems content now...i just gave him an unraveled paper towel tube. He seems to like them. I dont find that any of my other reptiles act this way...just my bts. Maybe they are a bit more...erm, not intellegent, all of my kids tend to be a little too smart for their own good...but maybe crafty or even mentally stimulated than other herps? What do you guys think? i am curious.

They are probably the most intellegent herp. They have been known to learn names and some words. Go to Bluetongueskink.net for the best info on them! Neo my indo BTS loves when I rearrange his cage, and variety is the key in diet as well. They love to explore, set up little playareas with ceral boxes and blankets!

Also, try giving him a live mouse for hunting stimulation.

I think what you're saying is quite accurate... that's why I always leave a little ambient sound on when I'm gone... When I have them loose, I always find them asleep next to something that makes noise....
