We hatched some like that this year too. All were produced by a Bell line pastel male.

...exhibit these bilateral spots on the supralabials...I guess some people might want to call 'em "a new morph"!!!

People are....lol!

I certainly don't think they are a "new morph". I just think they are really cool. I do find it interesting that out of 2 clutches, roughly 1/4 of the normal babies in the clutch exhibited the "trait". Definitely going to hold back at least 1.2, why not, it will be fun to see if I get all "spots".

Here is a poor picture of my 1998 "Spot Nose" Penelope.
She is now about 2500 grams and still has the spots.
Now that the "Spot Nose" have become so popular I will
have to get some better pictures of her nose.

PS. Hey Serp!!

bachman Aug 01, 2004 06:10 AM

I've been away so missed the spot-nose thing-maybe we need to rename this morph?!
The spot-nose is at least a dominant, and 1/2 the babies are spot-nose when bred to a normal. The pattern is very crammed, often striped down the middle of the snake, lots of pattern on the stomach, square side blotches, and a unique great head pattern.

I'll take some pics of some, I guess it is time!

bachman Aug 01, 2004 03:28 PM

it's not the same thing as your spotnosed Balls, and I don't think anybody was trying to say it is. We should call them normal Balls with spots on the nose from now on, so we don't confuse people.

i still think someone should try and prove out if these spot noses have any genetic traits that might link to a new line of albinism...
