Step-by-Step breeding?

Eidechsemann Jul 31, 2004 10:39 PM

I got a male corn snake to..."accompany" my female a few days ago. I want to breed them. This would be my first time breeding a reptile and I love these snakes, so I want to go by the book.
Could someone give me a detailed guideline on how to breed these two and keep healthy eggs. How much to feed them before the cool down, how long they should stay in cool down, how soon after cool down until they're introduced, what substrate I should have to allow her to lay the eggs before I take them, setting up an incubator, the temp. of the incubator, how long until hatching, so on.
My snakes are about two feet long. Thank you so much for any info!

really...better way to learn....

it's easy.....

feed all year...then in late February when female sheds..put them together and see what happens...if nothing ..keep trying a couple days...then each time after she sheds......

they'll "take" in March or April at least......

then eggs into vermiculite moistened at 82 degrees for 60 days..

tadaa...babies......

.......

get some books....they are like $10-$15 ...little books have alot of info......

and keep reading this forum....

good luck............JY

What JY said and get Corn Snake Manual. This was my first year breeding and the book along with several people on this forum made it a breeze. The book explains most everything and any small details were easily handled here. Good luck.

All right, thanks you two. Actually, I have brushed past the Corn Snake Manual a few times at the pet store that I work at. I'll pick it up when I get off tomorrow. Thanks again.
