well, i think i've solved the mystery to homer's snout damage. that total freak is jumping up to his uvb light and hitting his nose. geez! i've noticed him doing it alot lately. he keeps breaking his wound open. i don't want to raise the uvb because right now it's about 8 inches away from their basking spot and they spend so much time there so i know they are getting a good amount. ugh! it's just like one of my kids to make things continuously difficult for me. i can see and hear them now..."hey...watch mom jump anytime i do anything even remotely dangerous...hahahaha my own human puppet."
