Here's a picture of my pyro. She's hanging out in her favorite hide spot, a hideous ceramic turtle we got at the dollar store. It makes a great cheap hide for the smaller snakes.
She didn't have any eggs this year, but hope that next year she will have a nice clutch. She's an '01 and is already bigger (girth and length) than her own sire.
Next year I hope she won't convert all the mice and rats to length and girth and instead will convert it to eggs! I had two kingsnakes this year who became monsters who were bred but never laid eggs.... got huge... and two other kings that were just a bit too small, they've also grown huge this year.
NEXT YEAR, I have some fun plans....
High White cal king x two banana aberrants
Aberrant banded Cal x natural banded and also by a Newport phase dot/dash female. I might also cross him to our lone Splendida if its a female... might.
If I can get myself a good Apalachicola male, I'll breed him to my two apalachicola females.
Breed my two AZ mountain kings next year.
My Floridana if they are large enough to breed... I didn't think they would be as they are late hatch (December) but my goodness gracious me, they've grown HUGE. (probably will still wait another year)
Anyway, thought I would share.
This year was a wash.... 4 female kings bred, 2 clutches laid, 1 clutch died, and only 75% of the single good clutch hatched. Next year up to 4 cal king clutches, one splendida, one pyro. and hopefully tons more luck!
