Unusual cage size question

boidsntegus Aug 01, 2004 08:03 AM

I see lots of different cage size recomendations on care sheets and on the forums, but here is my question. Is a 2 foot long X 2 foot deep X 3 foot tall cage adaquate for a full grown JCP? I would love to get one of these beautiful snakes, but not if it will be uncomfortable in the cage I have (I got this cage free, and of course, I just "have" to put something in it!). Your response is greatly appreciated.

That sounds like a nice size cage. I would HAVE to put something in it too. I'm just a pet owner but have a JCP. I first got her last year in November and started off with a 20 gallon long tank. (She was a yearling about 3 foot then.) Then moved her to a 40 gallon breeder size. She is now in a 80 gallon tank. (4 foot long x 2 foot tall x 18 inches front to back). I don't know if the cage you have would be ok with a JCP or not.
I know with mine she was so restless till I got her into the 80 gallon tank with some branches to climb on. (She is 5 foot now) She loves the branches and also her boxes. She eats f/t large rats now. She has zoomed in size since I've had her and since she has been eating rats.
JCP are real cool and neat looking. You will be happy if you get one. I am...
