My blacktail eggs finally hatched 98 days for the first, I understand that’s well short of a record (is for me, previous clutches had been 90 days or less) what I found strange was that it took 10 days for all the babies to peep, previously my eastern & blacktail babies had hatched over three or four days at most with the majority hatching in a bunch in the middle & stragglers on both sides, the eggs this time hatched about one every day, the babies look good, .9 to 1oz apiece, one did have a little umbilical but it came off after a day no problem (put a little polysporin on it to be safe) Anyone else have their eggs space out like that? I should say that they were in a container about 1ft by 6" on a bed of peat (am I the last person to still use peat moss) on an adjustable heat source an the there was no discernable pattern to hatching based on where an egg was .
