Well after 4 long years of waiting these beauties have finally bred and the hypomelanism/ stiped pattern aberancy has proven to be genetic and breeds true!

almost like a half n half trans pecos embodied in a pit! Those colors are stunning, especially the blue color. Is that an adult? What's the background info on the morph. Is the hypo gene out of the wild or did it appear in captivity? Do you have them available yet, and much do they go for? Those are sure to be the next big thing in the pit world.
I remember someone posting an anery or axanthic P.d.deppei a while back. Perhaps it was a janni, in which case never mind. Well, I was thinking they would produce a sweet ghost with your hypo line. I would imagine the ghosts to turn out blue with silver saddles! Have you been working on that project also? Again congrats on the hypos.
amazing looking snakes! I'm glad to hear the project bred true, very nice looking deppei.
Have a good one,

Interesting, I like! Id also like to know if that was a wild morph or if it appeared in captivity.
These snakes are from a blood line out of Los Mombres, Dorango Mex. The founders were legally obtained by two fellows who are known as introducing the general public to P. d. deppei. The original three 2000 hypos come from the union of a wild caught male and his daughter. I then bred hypo male to his het mother, hypo sister and possible het sisters. I ended up with 6.6 hypo/striped and 3.5 known het for hypo/striped. The hets all have normal pattern so the hypomelanism and pattern aberancy are linked traits although I have seen two animals display hypo with relatively normal pattern. One of the hypo males is striped for 1/3 and then has a faded/speckled pattern that could almost be described as "patternless".

So how do you find out about it? How do you become the first to breed a new trait that was found in the wild? Id like to get something that noone else has but I dont think Im going to find it myself and I hear a lot of breeders purchased the wild caught mutant animals from those who found them.
Well I can say that this deppei trait/blood line was a huge and plesant surprise. Until I saw those little heads poking out I, nor anyone else had idea there was any hypo melanistic genes running around in the P. d.deppei.
As for the Stillwater Ok locality hypos it was more about "who you know". A fellow Pit enthusiast called me up and requested that I look at the unusual looking baby that he had hatched...Thanks Adam where ever you are! Finally, I feel really fortunate to have gotten a call from a fellow out in Corpus Chrispy describing a wild caught 8 foot long "red" bullsnake.
The deppei are probably the one and only time however that I will be lucky enough to see a new morph hatch!
If not mistaken there is a cat out in the UK by the name of Alan who has animals het for this trait. And anyone who has gotten deppei from me in the past may also have some hidden genes floating around in their deppei!
I lucked on to this one. I think finding something like this is on in a million.

Those are really cool looking .
Is there any color variation in these hypo's from individual to individual .
Congrats
