I apologize for asking such a common question, but I can't get it through my head just how fast these columbians grow. I only started keeping them a year ago, and research only helps you so much. I'm used to my snakes maxing out at 5ft... lol.
I have a DH snow male that is 3ft at the moment. I have 2 females that I may try to breed him to this spring if its possible. Judging from my kenyans breeding season begins about March at my house. Why I don't know, but thats when all my snakes start to "get busy".
I've read that males can breed at 3ft, but he looks too small to me. By March he should be a good 4ft, but is that enough? Will the natural temp drop my house goes through be enough to get him (and the girls) in the mood?
One female is a little over 8ft and I'm afraid that she could actually kill the male if she crawled over him. Should I wait until he is 5-6ft or just supervise?
The other female is a little over 5ft and thick. I'm not sure if she will be big enough to breed by march or not. At least she wouldn't crush him.
Any comments would be welcome.
Attached pic is the 8ft girl. I'm trying to fatten her up some. Previous owner only fed her 1 jumbo rat a month. Sorry the pic is so large, I don't know how to shrink it.
