eye problem?

btorgy Aug 01, 2004 05:08 PM

I have a young CB male Mali who has started keeping one eye closed. I have looked for foreign objects, flushed it out and used drops in it, but no change. The eye itself looks clear, no swelling or oozing. I have not noticed him rubbing it on anything. He is kept with another Mali he was raised with, and that one is just fine. Any ideas on what it could be?
Thanks.
Beth
(P.S. He is on a soil substrate and does burrow)

I have seen other lizards do that , like bearded dragons, when young and stressed during acclimation, (I think they figure if they cant see you , you can not see them

But they open it .

How long has he been keeping the eye closed?

I would watch it carefully, and if he does not open it in a day or 2 I think I would call my Vet. He may be abel to see something you are not able to.

I Sure hope he opens it and all is well, Let us know !

Maybe others have ideas of what it could be !

Actually I should have clarified this. He can and does open the eye, and it looks normal, but then he closes it again, and runs around with it closed. Had a hard time trying to flush it with water because he didn't want to open it, but then I'd let up on it and he would peek at me with this eye, and then I'd flush it. Hopefully he just has irritated it somehow. I will of course keep a close 'eye' on him! He's one of my favorites!
