Aspen bedding

muirsean Aug 01, 2004 07:23 PM

I was just wondering if using aspen would be an OK substrate, as long as I offer a hide box with moist moss? I find the mulch I am using right now creates a lot of mess outside the cage. The dirt gets into the carpet, the dust gets on the walls and everytime I take out my tegu I am covered in dirt/mud.

So to return to my original question, is apen w/ moist hide box a safe (and cleaner) alternative?

I should also mention I have access to an unlimited supply of aspen chips

Thanks,
Sean

I think bagged cypress bark from Home Depot is hard to beat fo tegus. Make it deep enough they can burrow and they are very content. No need for a hide.
