New Here, old hangout

Hi,

My name is Amy and I used to *hang out* here years ago. I had 4 dragons at one time but have been dragonless for about 3 years up untill a week ago. Amazing how much husbandry you forget when you're not using it... I've been reading here for a few weeks now and wonder if any of the old California, Bay Area group is still around from back then? We went to a lot of somewhat local shows together, it was fun.

My beardie is only 8 or 9 weeks and has some sandfire in him. Pretty reddish orange down his back. He's in a 35 gallon screen top with repti carpet and that seems to be working out fine. He's eating his little crix but has no interest in the greens or veggies yet. I'm still trying, everyday ;0}

Today I put him outside in a birdcage I picked up at a thrift store yesterday and he was happy a good 4 hours with me checking every half hour or so. THEN he was gone! We got lucky and found him under a deer eaten bush about 8 feet from his cage. Thank god the deer has eaten the bush away or we never would have seen him there. Needless to say I will not put him in there for another couple weeks till he has gotten big enough to in no way get thru the bars.........

Joel R? as in Brookedale Joel.....?

Sorry, it's Joel R as in Joel Roberts from Jacksonville.

Close call there with the escape! I had two disappear outside but were never found. I don't know it they made it out of the yard, got eaten by a bird, or were stolen?

See you around.

Hi Joel, thanks for the welcome~

I have *lost* dragons twice before ;0} When I got my first, Auggie, I made an outdoor enclosure out of fiberglass type screen and 1X1's. Thought I was pretty handy. I left him out there awhile and while I was inside patting myself on the back he was chewing his way thru! LOL! I only had him a few weeks and was so scared. We found him awhile later after removing a few boards from the deck.....
Then, after moving up near Yosemite, I had a great outdoor enclosure, actually a ferret cage. The whole top lifted up and there was also a door at the bottom level. Well, one of the kids slid a fresh water bowl in there and forgot to fasten the bottom door shut and Auggie escaped AGAIN! This time we found him 3 days later sunning on a miniture palm next to the doughboy pool. He was just kicking it, looking very natural and happy ;0}
Now I have been lucky three times, let's hope I'm done with that.
