pinky pump?

Soulskater Aug 02, 2004 03:58 AM

FR mentioned a pinky pump in a post lower down. I've never heard of it so I'm just wondering what it is and what its for. Thanks.

It is a steel syringe device to use to force feed liquified pinks into nonfeeders. I never knew whether it does the liquifying or that is something you do ahead, but suspect the former. Yummy.

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?

A pinky pump is a device invented in the late sixties, early seventies. I believe Ernie wagner and a machinist friend made the first ones. I purchased one of the first. Then Dave Barkers dad, Mr. Bob Barker(a wonderful man) sold them for years. A few years ago, he turned his business over to a couple of really great fellas from the Ohio area. I do not know if they are still selling them.

This device does indeed liquidify pinkies(you can add, vitamins, medicine, etc) and with a small plastic extenison, place this mixture in the stomach of the patient. It does so, with very little disturbance. As opposed to ramming a large object down their throat.

This is a great husbandry tool. Its one of those things that is great value that you hope to never use. In my long history of keeping reptiles, it has been a very very valuable tool. Only takes one save to pay for itself.

If you like, I can post a pic or better yet, go buy one and hopefully you will never need it. FR

Well I have never had to use one myself. I however have heard from other guys they work great for them. They said they have had great results from the product, and it is easy to use. Just a few pumps and thats it. They noticed a significant increase in their lizard.

If you feel you need it then go ahead and purchase it.
I bet alex, ral, andrew, stanp, shvar, mark, and many others use this product currently. I see Fr has already stated he uses it.

its true, i do. at first he was chaffing and just overall a sad monitor. after i pumped a little secret sauce into him, he is all better.

(actually i needed one once, went to a seattle reptile show to pick one up from a local vendor, but by the time i got home it was too late)
