Mating behavior???

lisa_cristin Aug 02, 2004 04:02 AM

My male ( I wish he was a she) blizzard has been acting funny. This week his eating habits have decreased. He just looks at his food and only eats a few as opposed to the 15 plus food items he normaly eats. Tonight he has been walking around his tank waging (I can't remember the proper term) at nothing. He has done this a few times for just under a minute each time. He is also the darkest I have ever seen him. His color is usually quite light, right now he could almost be mistaken for a midnight blizzard. Besides coming out these few short times he won't come out of hiding.

The reason I'm thinking he wants to mate is because he is in the same tank as two females. The tank has glass dividers separating them. However, these leos are only four months old.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!!

i would say your proboly right about the tail.when a male leopard gecko gecko meets another leopard gecko(male or female) it will shake its tail. if the other leo shakes its tail back then its a male.and im not sure about the colour changing i have a blizzard to and he acts like that.

Hey lisa, my little male does that too, after he met my female he concentrated waaay less on eating.

Everytime i open the cage he tries to get up and out of the cage via my arm and he's always digging and looking for a way out.
But as long as he's eating and still growing i think both our "fiesty" males will be ok.

I know this doesnt' help much but at least you know mine does that too :P and if i'm correct i think mines a bit older than yours, we think Yummy is about 7-8 months old

have a good one

I hope that's the reason. Unfortunately this means I'll probably have to set-up another tank right away. He is very close to the female and it's probably stressing him out a bit.

Snarks how's your cresty? Do you have any new pics yet?

Well i wouldn't worry about moving him, mines under my female and he's doing fine.
Well unless he really starts to stop eating, i'm just trying to say don't worry too much about it :D

My crested is doing fine, he only eats his insects though and i have to leave his baby food in there for 2 days in order for him to eat it. And i unfortunately don't have any Good recent pics. Thanks for asking though!
