New leo

Demandred Aug 02, 2004 04:48 AM

Hey there,

I was just wondering how long it takes for Leos to begin eating? I just picked this guy up on Thursday July 29, and it has yet to eat. I don't wan't to sound paranoid or anything but I just am slightly apprehensive due to the loss of my Water Dragon last year, albeit a completely different reason. So anyhow an idea would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

G.

My female took about three weeks to finally eat. She was full grown and fat already, so I wasn't tooo concerned. I believe it depends on the personality of a gecko (some are more skittish, some are very outgoing, etc.) So you're looking at anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. My suggestion would be to offer it food every other day.
I've also found that if a leo is not eating food I offer it right away, I will leave a dish of mealworms overnight, and I often find them gone in the morning.

Thanks eh.

I am fairly certain he/she is full grown or close to. I would estimate that he/she is about 8 inches at the least. Nice and fat too. Anyways thanks again.

Try and slice a waxworm down the center and rub the guts of the waxworm around the Leos mouth... that should open its appetite.... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! lol just kidding about the hungry part! Hope this is helpful.
