It's great to see some herps in their environment

During a hiking excursion at Arches NP, Utah, I came across two snakes; I usually only get to see them in rubbermaid containers ( :
What are the odds of seeing a snake in the middle of it's meal?

PS - Coming from Long Island, NY, we don't get to see to much wildlife.

This little guy crawled by the path just in front of me. It's really the only way I can ever find any snake (just to photograph).

Cool! What kind of snake is that? The one that is eating. I'm not familiar with Utah species. Thanks,
