Gargoyle Regurgitation

NCJay Aug 02, 2004 08:46 AM

My two-month old gargoyle appears to have regurgitated some of his/her gargoyle gecko diet last night. I've had him about ten days, appears to be eating well and active, no problems before this. I'm wondering if it's common for them to overeat and regurge some, or if this is indicative of a problem. He's been hanging upside down from the screen top a lot lately, so I'm hoping that he overate, hung upside down, and lost his lunch. I've never noticed anything like this with my cresteds, so I'm hoping some of you more experienced folks have some advice. Thanks,Jay.

OK, I decided to clean the cage this evening and check for more signs of anything amiss. I found several more areas that look the same as the one I mentioned before, so now I'm thinking that these are areas of defecation. This gargoyle, since I've had it, has eaten the T-Rex/Sandfire gargoyle gecko MRP diet almost exclusively (I also gave him/her about three small crickets and one waxworm over the past week, just to test the waters). Is normal feces for a small rhac fed exclusively on the MRP diet kinda runny? If so, then I am probably good. I've never noticed this with my pair of cresteds, but they were several months older when I got them, and have eaten a 50/50 diet of crix and crested MRP, with the cricket matter presumably making their stools more solid. Maybe someone can post what normal bowel habits/consistency can be expected for the small rhac species, and wether an exclusive MRP diet affects it. Thanks.

I doubt he's regurgitated several times over the past ten days and still looking normal. Provided he doesn't look severely dehydrated, I'd say it's just fecal matter you're noticing.
