Hi there:
I found yet a fourth baby in the vivarium today long after all of the others had been collected. This quartet is really cute. I gave them a larger nursery, but I face a very hard decision.
I am really responsible with all of my herptiles, and once I buy one, that's it! They''re on public display! Labels, fact cards and all in vivaria. I would never dream of selling anything, and at first I couldn't bare the thought of selling my little babies. I'm still really happy that they bred.
However, I thought about when they grow up. No matter what the species, 6 chameleons will need quite a bit of room. I magine all of the feeder insects, problems I would face, and keeping all of that humidity high enough. It isn't that I can't keep challenging herptiles. I own many, among them a Sonoran gopher snake, red-cheeked mud turtles, an American bullfrog, terrestrial caecilians etc.
I have considered selling the captive-born and raised quartet, and use the money for a huge female Western hognose snake at the store. Too bad...
How much do you think these would sell for?
