My 20 month old dragon laid a third clutch, but out of 24 eggs only 1 was what I would call normal size. All the others were about half the size but still white and not dented or anything. I went ahead and put them in the incubator. Do you think they will still be good?? I am going to try to feed her in a minute. Is there anything else I can do for her at this point?? I see why you need to make sure a dragon is healthy before you breed. It takes a lot out of them.

Yes I would continue to incubate the eggs. You never know. Since they were fully formed eggs and the shell was solid and not dented, They have a chance. Many breeders after the females lay give them a nice warm bath. This helps rehydrate the female, and cleans off the soil, also helps relax. Just make sure she drinks, and eats some. Good Luck.

I gave her a bath and while I am letting her soak I take a dixie cup and just drizzle the water on her nose and she drank the water. She is so cute. Also I fed her and she ate real well. I will keep the eggs incubated and see what happens.

give her a couple pinkies! my girl always gets some the week she has laid eggs to get her back into shape. i wouldnt recommend feeding more than 3 and not at the same time. if ur up to trying to find some place that sells live pinkies then go for it! if u cannot get any, make sure to give her some waxworms to get her fat stores back up before the next clutch.

One of the big positives of giving pinkies is the bone that the dragons will eat. The calcium is what the females really need after laying. Getting their weight back up quickly is good as well and pinkies are good for that too, just really try to push the calcium....dusted foods and pinkies are my main ways of doing that. They need the calcium quickly to be able to produce their next clutch of eggs that develop very quickly. Chris

I tried feeding her a pinkie and she looked at me as if I were crazy. She wouldn't have anything to do with it!!! How do you get a dragon to eat a pinkie? My other 2 dragons wouldn't eat it either!!!

I can't say if the small eggs are good or not. Just put them in and check them in about a week for veins.
As for the mom. I add some Pedialyte to a soak after she lays. It will help hydrate her with electrolytes. I also give my Mommy dragon, juvenile dragon pellets, kind of like giving a mother dog, puppy food before and after having the puppies. Granted the mother dragon isn't giving milk to the babies but it will help give her the vitamins and calories she needs to get back to health.

Good luck.

The guy backed out.. I get to keep him...I was hoping he would change his mind.

It really does surprise me how much this line produced bright orange and Red offspring, when the bulk of the originals were pastels and golds.

We know someone else that got one of the zilla/goldfroggy babies, that was a creme and gold with lavender and that one was breed to another with gold and light orange, the babies are roaring red/orange/purple colors, looks like someone splashed them with mixed paints. They are 2-6 months old now and holding the colors!

BTW, I got an email from Mickey, he will be popping in again soon

Joel, Cheri,

my little "Horse" (because he eats like my horses) (from Joel's first clutch I think?) is turning red, really bright. I will get a pic of him real soon..somehow he almost doubled in size......I have had him maybe 3 weeks or so Joel? OK Joel so much for my orange male dragon......hee hee )

It said, that if they turned red, you have to return them and I will replace it with another one. LOL

You better show some pics.... Can't wait.

Just wanted to add to the other posts that I had a female Hypo lay 4 clutches last year on her first breeding and her last clutch was 26 eggs and they were all like you say about half the size of the other 3 clutches. I went ahead and incubated them and all 26 hatched and the babies were healthy and were the same size as the other 3 clutches upon hatching. In fact the only difference was it took about half of them a week longer to shed.
Also I give my female pinky mioce along with a good warm bath to add calcium and weight to her diet.

Good Luck,
Robert
