? about blood python tank size

bloodpython7 Aug 02, 2004 12:11 PM

i was wondering, what size tank should i keep my two bloods in because i keep them together and they are both around 20-24 inches and right now i have them in a 20 gallon long tank, is that ok for right now or should they have bigger? the only reason i dont have them in a bigger tank is because as babies i know bloods dont like to have much space and i wanna keep them together so have them in a 20 gallon. so if someone could help me out and tell me what i should do it would be greatly appreciated! thank you

Hey,
I would say that at 20-24 inches the snakes are long over due their very own cages. There is way too much competition at that size for it to be safe for them to be housed together, making feeding a problem. Albeit, I do house some animals communally, but they are in larger 46 inches cages that offer them plenty of cage space. At 20-24 inches they are probably about 1-1/2, to 2 years of age. I would say, it is something to consider.

they were just born in september so they are almost a year old and they are male and female and i have never seen them display any aggression towards eachother and i often catch them curled up together and often i see them side by side with the tips of their tails curled together as if they were copulating but i know they are to young to do anything and i also always seperate them at feeding time so that isnt really an issue but i will consider seperating them i just wanted other ppls opinions on what i should do and if i do seperate them would a long 20 gallon tank be ok for each of them by themselves or do they need bigger????
