WC Aquaflame still refusing to eat

Antioch Aug 02, 2004 02:46 PM

I have a WC Aquaflame boy that has refused to eat ever since I bought him. After a couple of weeks of not eating, I started to force fed him a pinkie once a week to keep him going. Two weeks ago, I went on vacation, and left his light on with instructions that my pet sitter feed him every other day (3 crix). He did not eat the entire time. Now that I've returned, I am not force feeding him the pinkie, but he still does not eat, and he's starting to get thin.

I've tried waxworms and moths, horseflies, wild caught crickets, beetles... nothing intices him.

He does drink occasionally when I use the water dripper to fill his water dish.

Any other ideas?

If it is W/C it will likely not eat well (if at all) unless it has plenty of REAL sunlight exposure or a FULL spectrum UVB bulb, with basking temps approaching 110.
Is your enclosure large enough for a temp gradient?
I am not familiar with your case, but W/C critters are very particular, esp males!
Is he the only animal in the enclosure?
I'm sure there are plenty of other questions to be asked, but that should spark some responses that we can work with.
