Nambi V fat-tailed for beginners gecko

graffitiraptor Aug 02, 2004 05:02 PM

I have been doing research and have narrowed it down to these two lizards, as they both seem to be quite easy to care for. I already have two lizards, so these would not be a first, but i want someting i can let out of the tank sometimes. Any other suggestions for a different type are welcome, but as i live in the uk, please dont suggest anything rare or expenice, as i wouldnt be able to get one over here. Which one of these two, the Nambian sand and the fattail (or any others) is easyest to care for and easyest to handle? Any help with this would be much apricceated.

PS DONT SAY LEO!!

I LOVE my fat tails!! They are sweet and easily handleable! They have the most beautiful eyes and smiles! I have been raising them for about 2 years and hope to breed this year.
I don't know what you mean by "letting them out of the cage". I don't let them out to run around on their own but I do get them out to hang out with me. They are a bit small to be on their own without me . Good luck on your choice and let us know what you get.

Chondrodactylus are VERY hardy and easy to work with. As I have never kept FTs I cannot contrast the two animals. Just beware that if you try and restrain a chondro it will not struggle, it will bite you with VERY powerful jaws. I have not found them to be at all agressive, just they have an attitude when you do something to them they do not appreciate.

There is a care sheet up on my WEB site on my approach to husbandry for this species.
