Could someone give me a list?

Chameleon996 Aug 02, 2004 05:21 PM

I would like to set up a dart frog tank and would like a general list of what I should have?

I think I am going to use a twenty gallon. I am not sure if I want a long or tall tank. I plan on putting live plants in it but I don't know what kind to get. I know I need lighting but I'm not sure what kind. As a newbie to dart frogs I don't want to go into the water source if I don't have to. Misting is not a problem because I already do it with my chams. Any other advice would be greatly appriciated.

Well, I'm by all means a newbie also. But some general stuff I've read in last couple of days is pretty much as follows. Most people on the very bottom of their tank either have gravel or a false bottom for drainage (since you gotta water your plants and mist). Also, the back of the aquarium is usually something like cork bark or tree fern bark, which is asthetically nice but can also be used to plant stuff in. I don't know much about the reccomended plants yet either, but I do know several people have live moss growing over their soil substrate. As for the lightning, you need flourescents with UVB for the plants. Not sure what kind of humidity problems you will encounter with your setup, but a watersource inside the cage will definatelly help keep it up, if its low. Wish I could be of more help.
