Help with Chlorhexidine gluconate? acetate? diacetate?

so today i finally got my 1pt bottle of chlorhexidine in the mail, its 2% chlorhexidine gluconate, is this the right stuff to clean my tanks with? cuz ive heard of chlorhexidine acetate and chlorhexidine diacetate(nolvasan), whats the difference between these?

...of the same active ingredient chlorhexidine. The different salts have varying but fairly similar solubilities. Different companies use diff salts to avoid patent infringements, etc.
