This tyke hatched today. This is an outstanding snake from an outstanding lineage of animals. But, in fact, we really don't know what is going on with the variety of appearances in this lineage.
Originally we thought we were dealing with a co-dominant trait. The first ones were striped, and then when we hatched out the next generation and some looked more-or-less like this one; hence, we immediately thought "super-stripe."
However, now after breeding these snakes for several more years we realize that what is going on is unlike anything we have seen in any other lineage of pythons.
Look at the pictures that Mark has posted below to see some of the appearances. This lineage has now produced patternless animals, leopard-blotched animals, thick-striped animals, incredibly fine pin-striped animals, very pale specimens and even a few black ones.
We now have hatched out five animals like this one in the picture, all pretty much the same pattern. The patternless sides on the two oldest specimens are bright orange. Yes, not sort of orange, not kind of orangish-brown, the sides are beautiful, stunning orange, a color not equalled on any other Borneo.
Within the next year we hope to breed two with this pattern and several other different animals and we have no idea what to predict will be the results. This lineage has the possiblilty to produce some of the most spectacular pythons ever hatched in captivity.
