Dan is home.......UGH!!!

pythonmomma Aug 02, 2004 09:05 PM

I got my adopted iguana home today. All I can say to explain the new experince is UGH!!! He was a DREAM in the car. Got home though and it started. We built him a cage with glass and oak, not cheap, and he hated it. He kept attacking the reflections in the glass and jumping off things. So, on a spure, I cleaned my GIANT closet out. Bought a ton of stuff, like shelves and lenolium for the walls and floor and what not and Dan now has a new home. I don't know what I am going to do with the huge one I built.

He LOVES his greens and other stuff. I am using the iguana den diet thing and he adores it. He was on Rep-Cal iguana food before. Eats like it is no big deal and eats about 2 cups in one sitting.

Well, I am happy he is finally here. I will have pictures up in the next couple days so watch the gallery. Thank you all for your help.

I would hang sheets or something along the glass of the cage you built to cut down the reflections, until he figures out where the walls are. You might even want to pad it with cardboard where he's really crashing the glass just to keep him safe till he settles in. Don't give up! Tempest thudded around and went at the glass of his cage until he got used to it too, now he's fine and only thumps the glass when he wants something - usually more food! Congrats on Dan, you're in for a big adventure

Contact paper would work, too, particularly if you put it on the inside -- so there'd be no reflection at all. Then you can just peel it off (maybe one side at a time) once he's used to his new home.

Are you thinking of selling it? If so, are you located near the Maryland-DC-Pennsylvania area?

Well, I don't think I could get it out of the basment. That and I live in Kansas. Sorry! =)
