MMMMM Canabalism !!....................

BIG DONNIE BRASC Aug 02, 2004 09:26 PM

Well, not really, but my male just launched onto a cricket and along with the cricket, got a piece of his own shed skin that was the size of the palm of my hand! Instead of scraping it away with his foot.....he just munched away like it was a piece of lettuce, and swallowed it all!! dork!
I was telling a friend today how my collareds had a new "room-mate" a 3 1/2" SUPER grasshopper that I caught in my yard. They all seems a little unsure about it and didn't try to eat it. This monster lived in there for about a week wreaking HAVOK on my plants!!! Well today I tossed the daily 10-15 crix into the pen and everyone started scrambling for their share (competition keeps em well fed)
I forgot to mention that I have a RUNT of a female whose body MAY be 3" long and she is very thin due to just dropping some eggs. I see her in the back of the pen, picking at someting behind a rock, but I can't see what. I went around to the back to see "tiny" just hammering away at the monster grasshopper from hell, then after a few minutes of this, she grabbed it by the head and started working!! There was NO WAY she was getting this thing down her throat and I was AMAZED that she would even try! She did the old "chew and wriggle" for about 4-5 minutes and eventually the last leg of the beast slid on down, and she hopped up onto her basking spot!! I NEVER would've believed it had I not seen it!

Maybe the eggs will hatch into those miniature collareds that are rumored to live in 10-gallon tanks.

You never told us what type of lizard you have. Can you get a pic of it?
