Feeding......

zooguy Aug 02, 2004 10:53 PM

I am just a bit concerned about a couple of things relating to feeding:

1. I'm worried about making my corn overweight. How can I assure that I am not feeding too much? Right now, my corn is about 2 feet long (assumed 2003 hatchling)and I feed 3 large pinkies once a week. I know that it is time to move up to the next size, I've been finishing up my supply of pinks. On Thursday I will offer him his first fuzzy. Does this sound reasonable?

2. I'm also not sure how to tell when it's time to move up to the next size mouse. I recently read that a 22" rat snake should be eating adult mice. I was very surprised because I was still feeding pinkies to my 24" corn!

Thanks for your help!

I've recently started my yearling snow corn on sub-adult mice. She takes 1-2 every 7-10 days. I would think that the pinkies are much too small of a meal, but then, I'd have to see how "thick" your snake is.
