I'm new to beardies...

boapythonfool Aug 03, 2004 03:15 AM

I just got a pair of beardies 3 days ago and already got them eating pellets, is this good? I also keep them outdoors in rubbermaids from 7 am til 6:30pm-7:00pm(depending when the sun starts to go down), they do have a hide in case they get too hot, I also mist them twice during the day. Is what I'm doing good? BTW, they are 3 months old.

Thanks in advance,
boapythonfool

Some dragons eat the minute they get to a new home, some take upwards of a week or so. You lucked out.

I must caution you about leaving them in Rubbermaid bins outside. Because there is no side ventilation, they can become little hotboxes in a hurry. Even with a hide, the inside of the bin can skyrocket with heat & literally cook a dragon. A better sun cage would be a reptarium sp?. Those black cloth screen cages. You still have to offer a shaded retreat but a breeze can move through & nothing is "holding" in the heat.

You didn't mention if they are your first? If so, welcome to the addictive world of beardies. lol

Good luck.

They do have side ventilation, I drilled several holes on the sides. Yes, this are my first pair.
Thanks,
