A PICTURE of my male from dvl and new female too!

Johne Aug 03, 2004 08:43 AM

The first picture is my male...He has a lot of red on his belly...I think he's a red belly David.

The next two pictures are his lovely new girlfriend. She head bobbed at him the other day, then he follwed with a few of his own. He really only tried mating with her on the first day.

Thanks for looking!

John

They look like a typical NV chuck from extreme southern NV west of Laughlin. Very pretty chucks!

I really do enjoy having a different species of lizard to observe. They are nice additions to my collared family. They make good basking sites for my collareds too :P

John, those are nice looking chucks. I need to get pictures of my female. I just put her in the outdoor cage today(after fixing it up so there won't be escapes). I should be getting a young captive bred male on Friday to keep her company.

The redback male dug out of the cage. I've spent alot of time chuck hunting in the neighborhood but I guess he's gone. I'm really bumbed about it and hope he showas up someday. Everyone around here has desert landscapes with large rocks in their yard so I'm sure I'll see him someday basking in a yard. I should be getting a captive bred red tail from a friend of Tom Grebs on Friday. It was bred by Tom!

PHEve Aug 04, 2004 11:22 PM

Sorry to hear that Will. I did not know he dug out, other than the time he first tried, I think. I'm sure you will see him one day basking, probably did not get that far!

Maybe right under your nose ( close by ) I hope so! Then If you have one to many, with the one Tom bred, just send one to New Jersy, LOL

The new guy should be awesome also, if he was bred by Mr. Greb

I sure hope you find him Will. He was sure PRETTY

I escape proofed my pen by putting a bottom on it. The sides are 48". The bottom 14" is dirt leaving 34" to the rim. Since I was worried about gophers digging in (thus creating escape tunnels) I layed DUROCK sheets under the dirt. They are like drywall only concrete. There is an open section for the Palo Verde tree's roots to go through but I placed 1/2" hardware cloth over it. Then I stacked cinder blocks on the DUROCK to support the large rocks. After spreading gravel around the edges and over the wire mesh, I backfilled the pen.
I have chucks, a zebra tail, and 3 sideblotcheds in it now. Still on the look out for DIs. (For some reason, I haven't seen any for the last few trips to our normal spot.) They like it in there so much now that I only see them when I bring out the veggies and crickets.
