I've just found mites in the eyes of two of my recently purchased, supposedly captive bred, balls. I removed 35 of them just out of the first one. I'm using reptile relief spray on their bodies but what can I do about the rest in their eyes? I've soaked them in water to try to get the rest out, that seems to help a little bit.

How exactly did this happen??? Is there any possibility that the mites could have come from the aspen? I want to rule that out before I lay into the guy that sold these to me. I bought a large bag from petco a few weeks ago, a few minutes after I first opened it I noticed a black bug in it but I couldnt catch it to see exactly what it was. I think it was to big for a mite anyways, it looked like a gnat. NONE of my other snakes have any mites at all though so I'm pretty sure it didnt come from there. Only the 2 snakes I purchased from this person have them.

Things like this infuriate me, there were so many mites in his eyes that the skin around them was pushed out away from the eyeball. How can someone sell an animal like this??? How could anyone treat an animal like this???

anyways, what else can I do to get rid of these mites and how can I protect the rest of my snakes so they dont get them??
