parasites

I would like to add an artificial branch that my brother used for his gecko into my tank with my black king. The problem is that the branch has been sitting in my storage shed for over a year. How do I make sure that I don't bring and parasites into the tank. I have let it soak in steaming hot water on two occasions and it is now resting in my home. Thank you for any information.

You can soak it in a solution of 10% Chlorine bleach and water for a couple of hours, then sun-dry thoroughly. That should kill just about anything on it.

If you are still nervous about it, or if you see something after you put it in the cage, go to your vet and have him mix you up a spray solution of .1% Ivermectin. Then just spray the cage, animal, and furnishings once a day for 3 or 4 days.
