I am new to this forum but my whole family are snake lovers. In Oct of 2002 we got my 11 year old son a baby ball python he named Verdi. In December of 2003 we adopted a ball python that a neighbor had found abandoned in the street that our son named Medusa (and pretty much became my husband's). And just last month I got mine. A little baby ball python that I named Kaasha.
But I have a question on Medusa. Is there any way to tell how old a snake is? Medusa has only shed twice since we got her and she's alredy right about 4 feet long. She has a LOT of trouble feeding. She misses most of the time. By accident we discovered she feeds better if we hold her and aim her at the mouse. (We haven't tried rats since she isn't very good with the mice) We figure she might be very old, poor vision or something. Whoever abandoned her treated her horribly. It took 3-4 months before she was comfortable with us. She also had big bite scars all over her. I wish I could find her previous owner and tell them a thing or two.
I love reading all about everyone's snakes and can't believe I never got a snake until just a couple of years ago. But it is true that snakes are like Lays. You can't get just one.
