Sad... I lost a breeder

caecilianman02 Aug 03, 2004 12:54 PM

Hi there:

A few weeks ago, my breeding Pygmy leaf chameleons had four babies. (There might be a fifth one.) Anyway, shortly after the babies had been born, the adult male went missing. I looked all over for him and found him two days later wedged between the roots of a ficus tree and the glass. I thought that he was dead, but he was still alive. I gave him water, then laid him up in the branches. The next morning he was looking great.
He was patrolling the vivarium, drinking, hunting, and regaining his color. Then he went missing again. I figured he'd know not to squash himself in the same place again (I still have no idea how in the world he got in there) but I was wrong. Today I found him squashed within the same place again, and this time it was too late.

DAVE
