Tobias's New Setup

shopunke Aug 03, 2004 02:51 PM

What do you think? Is it okay? I know I still need to get a background... Right now on the basking area the temp is 90 (The bulb is really freaking hot!) and right in the middle of the tank it says the humidity is about 30. Good/bad? =/ Here's a pic. Tobias is spazzing out pretty bad, I hope he calms down soon. *Frustrated sigh*

looks like that coco bark!and i'd get rid of the waterfall if thats what it is,not just because it raise humidity to high but also because collareds are "sandsoup" masters and they will clog up the pump to itOh 1 more thing, did you ever see odd again?

I was told it works well with lizards, and since I have a ton of it for my frogs as well, I figured I'd go with it. It can be moist, dry, whatever... I ended up spraying the tank with some water and the humidity rose to 60 then down to about 35...

What waterfall? There is no waterfall in his tank, hehe. Just a cave-like rock, the tree, his water dish, and a little food-type dish that the mealworms squirm around in.

Yes, I've seen Odd once since his release. I'm trying not to look too often, though. I'm afraid I'd end up finding one ill, or dead.

I LOVE Bed-A-Beast... but I don't recommend it for everything. I've even used it for incubating Phelsuma eggs! But I lost a few Rhampholeon brevicaudatus due to Bed-A-Beast impaction, or blockage. Just make sure your lizard does not swallow it accidentally. I prefer sand for my crotaphytids.

What about if my frogs swallow it? They tend to do that a lot, for a year now, but it always passes...

Well, as long as you're sure it passes. Just watch the collareds and monitor their feeding responses.

would not use it for the collared. Save it for your frogs!

Use paper towel or newspaper for now. Your better off!

Glad Tobia got his big boy tank ! I know you may not want to hear this becuase it looks really cool but the big grapvine or branch,

I think I would also give that to the frogs, and give Tobia a nice rock to bask on, and put his basking light right on top of the screen over the rock.

The big tree limb goes right to the top and it seems you cant put the basking light on top screen, because he can get burned I guess.

Also you will free up alot of jumping space for him without the tree. They prefer rocks ! I sometimes have a small piece of drift wood as a ramp or whatever but the main funiture is Rock!

Now are you sad that we have all re-done your nice new home ?
I sure hope not, just suggestions,

The bigger tank is the main thing, he will enjoy that. Hows his foot?
