Columbion regurgitating

Bodhisdad Aug 03, 2004 03:40 PM

I have a small col. who has regurgitated the last two meals(average sized mouse) How long before I should try to offer another meal. He has managed to eat two of these mice already which I feel are probably a little to big. What other factors cause this too happen? Thanx for the info, Clint

Clint, Assuming your snake is healthy and does not have an intestinal or parasite problem, improper temperature is probably the leading cause for regurgitation and boas having problems digesting their food. Make sure you've go a good temperature gradient, 78-80 on the cool side, 85-90 on the warm side.

I would not try to feed him again til 14 days has passed since his last regurg. I would also make it a smaller than normal meal. Assuming he keeps it down, I'd stay with smaller meals at fed at least 10 days apart for the next two or three meal. If he keeps them down, you can gradually increase the size of the prey to what he should be able to keep down.

If temps are good and he cannot keep a small meal down, I'd recommend going to a vet.

Thanx, my temps are solid, I'm hoping its the size of the prey that is giving him problems. Clint
