any more cold hardy and resistant to respiratory infections than other bci.
I read the post about the bci from the mountains of Mexico. Are Nics also found at relatively high elevations perhaps?

I'm unsure if the Nicaragua mainland boas are hardy, meaning tolerant of low temperatures.. it is certainly true that they seem to be relatively trouble free (kept properly).. if you discount the troublesome tendency of the males and sometimes females to simply refuse to eat for weeks at a time.
There are several populations of Boa sp. that are seemingly well-adapted to cold temperatures.. occidentalis are one, imperator from extreme N. Mexico (the Tarahumara boas) as well as perhaps the animal posted earlier from central Mexico are other examples.
Hope this helps..

the question of Nic cold hardiness is still sort of up in the air... (anyone? anyone?)
I was curious about the Tarahumaras as well, now I know. Thanks again.

I bought a pair of Nics from Ben Seigal months ago and after being really impressed, I bought another pair shortly after that. They have been great and very hardy for me. I have had no problems with them other than they only eat live mice. This is just my experience but I thought I'd share in case you were thinking of getting one. I like them and couldn't be happier with the chance I took on buying them.

wan't to eat f/t. Still very interesting boas though. I'm just making sure I did all my homework before I buy a third and final boa. Probably another hog, not quite sure yet though.
That's the funniest thing I've ever heard....'3rd and FINAL boa' I hope you can stop at 3 but honestly its quite addicting (if you have the resources). These animals are just too beautiful. I have actually been looking for a good deal on boas in the classifieds. Everything is so expensive online anymore. I might wait and check out a local herp show but who knows.

more for a few years until I have some choice holdbacks from clutches I've raised, then I can buy unrelated mates for them. ...or maybe it'll be my final boa purchase of the year. ...or the last one until I get more cages and clear out a place for them!!! Online shopping makes it too easy, obsessive compulsive here we go!
One boa I would consider crossing with a hog would be a hypo nic, but they are just WAY too expensive.
I'm going to a show in Sacramento this weekend. If I don't get something exotic there or find something else online that I want, like a nic, I'm going to order another hog next week. I researched a few already.
