age of veiled

how many months old would you say a veiled that is 3 inches svl is. i got him on may 2. im thinken he is four months old but im not sure.

Very hard to say without a pic. They vary a lot and more length doesn't always mean older age. You might look at breeder pics of chams of known age to compare the casques, coloration, development of orbital ridges and rostrum, dorsal spines, etc. Couldn't the seller tell you anything? Ask if they bred it or who they got it from and when. Might help.

That's a tough question to answer. Size depends a lot on the parents, foods, and overall just basic care. I breed veileds and I have babies that are eating large 1/4 crickets while others from the same clutch are still eating the 1/8s. Some will grow faster or slower than others. I've noticed that some grow extremely fast, while others grow slower, although their habitats, diets, temps, etc. are the same. And of course, there's always the occasional runt.
