2 QUICK QUESTIONS....

03svtcobra Aug 03, 2004 05:01 PM

1. My female brb is going to be one year old this winter. i've noticed that she sheds every 2 weeks. is this normal? after she sheds, she will eat 2 meals and then shed again. i know when they shed it's good b/c they are growing, but should she be eating more? she's super healthy, a nice weight and everything else.

2. for those people who have adult brb's ( about 5 ft or more). When u feed your snake in a seperate container than their normal "house". what do you use?

My 0-1 yr. old BRB's shed every 3-4 weeks. I was feeding them one rat pink every 5-7 days and one rat pup 5-7 days as they got bigger. I tend to underfeed if anything.
My adults and 2 yr. olds are feed in a 22"x15"x6" rubbermaid.

I feed my adults in containers a bit larger. I don't know the extacts but they are at least 32 x 20 x 20. It would be easier on me if I could use smaller containers. They are a problem to store for me.At first I fed live, then fresh-killed, now I feed f/t. Maybe while feeding live a big place was a better idea than it is now.

Linda,
I feed live when feeding medium and small rats and kill larger rats before feeding them to the snakes. I find that the smaller container gets the snake and rat in real close proximity so that the snake eats lots quicker. When I fed in large containers I sometimes found the snake at one end and the rat at the other end of the container.
