what others species of frogs or toads can be kept with fire bellied toads? Are there any lizards that can be tank mates with these toads? or are they too posionus?

Although the colors clash, fire-bellied newts are from the same regions and habitats as fire-bellied toads. Their toxins are extremely similar and would probably have no affect on eachother. I understand why most people are against species mixing, but I have had GREAT luck with it. Even in the wild, black rat snakes share their dens with copperheads and timber rattlesnakes. As long as the new arrivals are quarentined and carefully monitered, it should work out.

The fire bellied toads are extremley agressive eaters and the newts are not. In fact the newts might get lunged and bitten at by the toad due to this agression. And the toxins of the toad are much stronger than the newt and that alone can kill the newt. My suggestion is if you want another animal, like the newt, set up a 10 gallon and enjoy them each in seperate tanks.
