I guess Russians are at the top of my list of favorites. These babies don't look very old. When did they hatch? I have three eggs in the incubator and two of them look like they are doing well and should hatch in about 2-3 weeks. The third one just doesn't look right. I hope I get some babies like yours.

Beautiful babies.

I lucked out this year and had 9 hatchlings out of 14 eggs laid.
In the previous 3 years I had one hatch out of over 20 eggs total.

It seems that there are more CB russians being offered and the price has dropped from about $250 down to about $125-$150. I hope it's having some influence on the wild-caught market, but I doubt it with WC specimens going for about $50.

They are so cute! They look beautiful!

I was wondering what kind of mulch you are using that picture?

Thanks

It warms my heart seeing so many cb Russians being offered for sale these days. I've got a 3 year old male who is growing healthy & beautifully, but isn't a very nice tortoise. He still doesn't like me.

Everybody wants a bargain & the inexperienced tortoise fan will certainly be more inclined to pay $50 for one rather than $150, even though they might end up spending that much more on an import in meds & vet trips.

I wonder if they'll ever become as common as sulcatas?
