I never seen any collared just fence lizards. I used to go to the mountain all the time, but now it may lack life since the fires from awhile ago. I still remember those days. I was on my grandmas roof with a hose keeping the neighbors burning house down. My aunt, across the street house caught on fire but was not burned. All in all, the house next door to my aunts burnt to the ground along with the house next to my grandmas. Scary times but for some reason I liked it. Wierd:? I now live in redlands if you know were that is.
Well anyways, All my time up on those mountains I have never seen any collareds. I believe they need more rocks, ledges, crevices, ect... By the way, Only the bicintores collareds extreme area reach that far out. I have a reptile field guide and they shows there maps. You may be lucky and, take a camera to take pics of the arrowhead and stuff.
Truthfully I wrote two paragraphs of stuff that I am not comprehending. I have a knack for that.

Hi there,
I live in Apple Valley, which is closest to the SE side of the San B's, and I can tell you if you end up anywhere near the Mojave Forks Dam
(locally known as Deep creek) you have a good chance of seeing some bicinctores. E-mail me if you want some specific locales.
Have a good trip,
-Phil
Dang it all
I forgot which way was South......I live on the NE side of the San B's sorry for the confusion. But like I said before....if you end up this way e-mail me and I'll point you in the direction of some nice looking Bicinctores.... apologies man.
-Phil
Thanks Phil, I am interested to know were that place is. I see Apple valley on the map but thats it.
I live in san pedro ca which is really only about 1& 1/2 hours away.
Have you ever spotted any other kinds of collareds in CA like C.vestigium in San Diego County?
thanks.
ed
Yes there are C. bicinctores around the base of the San Bernardinos. North of I-10 on the south to southeast side of the mountains, north of Palm Springs. I'm sure they are on the north and east sides as well. I have a friend who has seen them on the southwest to west side in a canyon(forgot the name of canyon) and he was suprised to see them in the thick growth.
