Okay, Eve... (Or anyone =p)

shopunke Aug 04, 2004 09:53 AM

If I put the heat lamp ontop of the screen, wouldn't the screen melt? It's awfully hot, and Tobias has been clinging to the screen... I don't want him to get burned!

Also, about paper towels... Doesn't he need a place to dig?

Another thing. He's not eating his crickets. He's too lazy to chase them. What do I do!?

Uhm, let's see. I've re-organized the tank again... I only have two "rock" sort of pieces, but none of them are high enough to reach his heat source. I could send pictures of what I've got... maybe you all could help me? Keep in mind, I'm just 16, and this little guy is my first lizard...

I've put two treatments of First Aid Antibiotic cream from walgreens on his toe. The black seems to be disappearing and it looks as if it's already healing! The finger still goes up though. It must have broken, then healed that way before I became wise to it.

Hehe, I know this is a LONG message, but, I have another question? My mom and I were talking this morning, and she actually wants to get him a female! Would this be a good idea?

Eve, or any of you... I really appreciate any and all help. If you'd like to e-mail me with more details (so I can stop spamming the forums! ) I'd be more than happy to listen and respond.

Thanks again everyone!

any questions you have , thats what this is for, LOL It is not spam)

Okay, No the light does not burn the screen, only if it were a reptaruim(plastic ones ya see)

The aquarium tops are made to sit the light right on top.
The rock does NOT have to be UP to the top the basking light, yeah he would get to hot.

The rock has to be just located below so the light will be shining there.

Thats where your themometer comes in. You want to leave it right were he will be basking for awhile to do a temperature check, to see what temp it will be.

** You want to aim for 100 - 105
and later in the day as it heats sometimes goes to 110, then he will go somewhere on cool side to retreat or in a hide.

As far as not eating right now, may be because hes tring to get used to his new house (acclimating,) its a big change for him) If hes heated up enough he will begin to eat soon.

A female would be fine, after you get everything just RIGHT and TWEEK it to perfection, Don't jump the gun

Try and get a (captive bred C. Bicinctores for him,) since he is very tame. It will be easier for you to take care of her if she is NOT wild, and full of parasites.

Look at that pic I send you the other day of the babies tank with the light over top, if you dont have it I will send it again.

Tobias is going SPASTIC! I mean literally just going nuts! He's been jumping and banging all afternoon, hanging from the screen by his little toes! He's gonna hurt himself! Why is he doing this!?

a collared does, full of energy and active, little acrobats. You only had a 30 watt light or something on him, and not even directly on there but hanging above right.

You said before he just sat there. He NEEDED the HEAT to get going

Just make sure where he basks is the right temp 100 - 105 the rest of the tank should be high 80's to 90's
