The Bajas outside Sunning yesterday !

Eve Aug 04, 2004 12:48 PM

I invested in a couple 38 gallon reptariums for sunning purposes.

I took EVERYBODY out yesterday in shifts, LOL This is Chia and Chino enjoying some Rays, I snuck the top open and clicked a pic in natural light.

I could put about 5 collareds at a time in one , the ones that get along well. Some loved it, some were a bit scared and hid.

All I put in the reptaruim was a small cardboard box they could either sit on and bask or run into for cover if hot or frieghtened.

But being a worry wort, I kinda kept looking out, watching the scaly kids, so I knew they were safe from any Preditors!

Just something new , LOL

A relatively recent study suggests that even regular screen lids filter up to 30% of the total potential UVB. The reptiariums are made of thick nylon, I'm sure much of it is filtered as well.

I'll try to find that reference.

...for greenhouses, the percentage passed depends on the weave. Anything very fine is probably going to have a major effect. However, I'm also pretty sure natural sunlight provides UVB in excess of the requirements for our purpose, so...

I go with 1/2" hardware cloth just to be certain.

by getting out there. Also I really like having these around for any emergencies, or a sick cage or what ever I may need at the time.

With so many lizards , besides the collareds, I cant go wrong having a couple around. Even stored.

I also used one for my female black agamas, they are having a blast. They have floor space and also like to climb and cling on things. They can run the floor or climb the sides or top, basically use every inch, LOL

I would not use these for large lizards with stong claws but for the smaller guys they work well.

I still would appreciate the data on the uvb and the amount filtered. Thank you much guys
