Well, as I stated below, I had been planning to head down to the U.S. from Canada to pick up some corns and head back this way all in the same day. That was yesterday.....Here's how it went:
On the way into the U.S. we got stopped by a border guard, and fairly thoroughly interrogated. Got asked our names (me and my fiancee), how we knew each other, where we were going, why we were going there, don't people keep dogs as pets anymore?, did we have any drugs, alcohol, tobacco, can we see in the trunk, is this your car, have you ever been arrested, have you ever been denied entry into the U.S......... the list goes on. Safe to say it took at least ten minutes to get through this one guard (guess it was a slow day).
In the U.S., after picking up the snakes, we picked a box of cereal, just because there are so many more kinds in the U.S. than in Canada. On our way back across the border, we thought it was going to take quite the talk to get through. First question was where do we live? Simple enough. Next, how long have you been in the U.S.? also simple. Next, What is the total amount of purchases you have made today? First, we pointed to the $2 box of cereal, and before we could even open our mouths to mention anything else.........we were waved through!
I couldn't believe, took about 30 seconds to get back across with the snakes, they didn't ask, didn't even seem to care.
Hopefully it'll go this smoothly next time I try and do this
