I know I am a wary buyer, but I have a question.

anson Aug 04, 2004 05:01 PM

This is an involved question but want as many opinions as I can get.
I am pretty new to Ball Pythons so I don't know if this is normal or not.
I am considering buying a male Ball Python
The previous owner gave me it's feeding/eating scheduele
The snake ate an average of 4-5 meals a month from birth in July to Jan
It ate nothing in January because the owner does not feed in winter.
It ate 5 meals in Feb
Then ate no meals in March and April
The owner said it was because he was trying to switch it to frozen thawed.
It ate 2 meals in May
and 4 in June
It ate only one in July
When I asked why he told me because it was larger than average for it's age and he was not worried about it eating.
I am just making sure that this is normal and nothing is out of the ordinary before making a purchase.
Is this a normal feeding scheduele?
The snake now weighs 470 grams.
Is that an above average weight for a yearling?
Any input would be appreciated.

Take a walk through the classifieds and look at any '03 snakes. I just did and the vast majority are under 500 grams.
