Leopard geckos are nocturnal so a uv light is not mandatory. IF they are in an area where it is light durning the day and dark at night then a night bulb (red/blue/purple) works just fine for heat. IF they are in a room that is always erally dark a day time bulb and a night time bulb are good so they know when its day and night (in a sense). If they are in a room that is light in the day and dark at night then you could also use a ceramic bulb or a heat pad (these admit no light at all). I hope this helps!

So I use a heating pad during the day, i dont need to have any light on the tank at all during the day?
And a red bulb at night? night time is the only time that i need a light bulb?
(sorry i just want to make sure i get this right)
