Feeding sick mice to a snake...

rudedogsurfrat Aug 04, 2004 09:31 PM

I have a colony of mice that seem to have something that makes them die off. I currently run 6 tubs and in only one of them the mice are dying. That makes me think there is something wrong with them.
Anyhow I killed them off and put them in the freezer to kill off any type of infection.
Do you think this will be ok for the snakes if they have been frozen? If so how long should I let the stay in the deep freeze? 1 or more days?
Thanks

I would think that that would be okay. Though according to one vet I talked to the way to kill all the germs and parasites involves like 4 months in the freezer. I don't see the sickness of the mice affecting the snakes. I would let them 'chill' at least a week. But that is just me.
