Help!! Droopy eyelids!

kapeed Aug 04, 2004 11:21 PM

Our juvenile beardie has droopy lower eyelids. The actual eyes look ok, it's just that there seems to be a lot of space between the eyeballs and lower eyelids. His lower eyelids have always been a little droopy, but it's becoming a lot more pronounced. Are there any nutrient deficits or diseases that could account for this?

His behavior seems pretty normal, but it is worrisome that the condition is getting worse.

It is possible to be genetic in any species, also neurological, but the only time I've seen that in bearded dragons, the droopy eyes each time have been a symptom of renal function/failure or malabsorbtion of Vitamin B or both.

If vitamin B malabsorbtion, you can increase the B vitamins with brewers yeast used as a dusting on crickets.

Here are some links you might want to read.

There are also some on Hypothyroidism and Vitamin B, but I could not find the links yet.

I have heard that this may be releated to a deficinecy in the vitamin B complex. I recommend dusting the food with Nutritional yeast or Brewers yeast to add b vitamins to the diet. DO NOT USE BAKER'S YEAST!!! Live culture yeast can cause big problems.
